Greetings! I have been looking around at all the available PC Software that allows you to record, edit, and create sound clips, etc. Some of these can get pretty pricey and give you an almost sound studio quality. I am just interested in something that works really well, easy to operate, fun to play with and not over the top with cost and complexity Any thoughts? Thanks Mike |

Mike your on a PC yes, other wise I would say use the garage band program that comes with every mac. Sorry don't have any help for you otherwise. |

Mike, check out Audacity there's a Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X version. It's multi track, and allows all sorts of editing and plugins. And best of all it's free. You'll still have to the sounds from a microphone to the computer. But even with a cheapo mic and the line in on a basic sound card I've heard some folks put out some pretty amazing songs. If you're looking for something more I'm with Hesh on the M-Audio stuff. They've even branched out and you can get some of their basic stuff at CompUSA. Personally, I have a roland RPC-1 pci card and a VM3100 mixer. I've had it for a few years now and it suits my needs. |

Perhaps we can get Lance to get a handle on this and invite them to be a sponsor. This would put us all in a place where we'd like to be ~ able to produce,and store clips, even if we don't have a website to do it. I would love to hear all the guitars I see here. Wouldn't you?? |

Thanks guys, I agree Terry, it would be nice to have a sponsor that handled this type of stuff. My thinking is in creating sound clips and also storing others, plus it would just be alot of fun. I am off to visit these web sites and see what looks good for me, so the Audacity software is FREE, that is a hard price to beat, what am I giving up? anything? Mike |

Actually, you're not really giving up a whole lot, if any thing. IIRC Audacity will even allow you to use VST plugins, which if you want some reverbs, delays, echos, flangers (80s guitar gods know what this is), is a good thing. Actually, I have Cubase and Logic Audio (the lower line that came with my Roland equipment), and I still use Audacity for basic sound manipulation, and making cds from my tapes. Check it out, I think you'll be surprised what free will get you. |
